My Productions and Directions

As hard is it to believe myself , I began producing my very first show at 21 years of age . Thinking about it , I guess the one thing that got me through was  balls of steel  …. and not forgetting I lied about my age at that point of time . In my defense , nobody would take me seriously at 21 .

From one production , it went to another , to another , and finally , I’m concentrating on directing and producing more than my individual one off shows . The productions  kept on getting bigger as time goes by . It’s either that , or it’s because that I want it to get bigger .  I love producing , I love directing . Most importantly , I love magic . I strongly believe that you have to love magic and have a close relationship with magic in order to create a spectacular magic show .

Let’s take a look at a few larger productions that I was involved over the years  ……

Egypt's first Illusion Show

Yes , amazing as it seems , I was the person who brought down Egypt’s very 1st Illusion show . It’s quite surreal thinking about it , that a Malaysian actually brought down EGYPT ‘ s  first illusion show . You’d think that someone from middle east would be the first  . Egypt has a very special place in my heart as it was the very first middle eastern country that I hit . My first visit to Egypt wasn’t because of a production rather Nokia brought me down for a show , and the rest was history . It was only during my 3rd trip to Egypt that I got to finally see the Pyramids of Giza .

After the very first few shows , both large and small , I learned many pivotal details on productions rapidly . I had to , everything from lighting to working permits were under my control . It then occurred to me that I liked being meticulous , and I loved producing . I believe , in a fairy tale like kind of way that if you love something , and you truly put the effort to it , you’ll create something great . I go into every my of my productions that way . I know I might sound like a lie-ing sun of a gun when I say this , but MONEY was never the 1st priority when I get into a production , making a GREAT production is . I know that with one great production , greatest opportunities come , and with that , money comes along as well . I’m NEVER a hit and run person .

Egypt's 2nd illusion show in history

Yes , I also somehow brought down Egypt’s 2nd Illusion show a year later . There would have been a 3rd show in Egypt by now ( 2011 )  if it wasn’t because of the revolution in February 2011 . Egypt’s 3rd illusion show was supposed to be held on February 17th 2011 , however due to the revolution in Cairo , the show was moved  to 2012 . I’ll be back Egypt ! and I’m coming back with a bigger superstar cast !

Kuwait's first illusion show

Once again , believe it or not , yours truly was also the person who brought down the very first magic illusion show down to Kuwait . To be honest with you , I can’t believe it myself that I brought the very 1st illusion shows to countries thousands of kilometers away from Malaysia . Many good people helped me out though ,  it definitely wasn’t a one man effort . I had a great team .

I also directed and produced , with the help of RW Genting , Superstars of Magic , South East Asia’s biggest variety magic show to date and arguably one of the most successful one too . Superstars by far is my most successful production and it’s my little baby that I plan to improve year after year . You’re going to see a lot of Superstars of Magic in the years to come .

Besides producing and directing , I also consulted in some of the biggest productions Malaysia has ever seen . One of them being Lat the Musical , which in my opinion was the most successful musical that has ever hit Malaysian shores . I learned so much at Lat and I really do plan to do a magic musical in the near future .
